The members of Caliban’s Dream are very passionate and excited about running Historical Ceilidhs. There is something utterly thrilling about putting the original historical dances together with the music and instruments of times gone by, especially in a celebratory atmosphere at a wedding or party.

Your guests will get the opportunity to take part in lively medieval farandoles, 16th century peasant dances, courtly pavanes and galliards and even some 17th century contredances led by Ricardo Barros, with live music played on authentic period instruments. The Historical Ceilidh is suitable for weddings, parties corporate and special events.

Many of the real steps and true spirit of the dances of our ancestors have been lost in the mists of time. Dr Ricardo Barros has unearthed the fire and vigour of these ancient dances by meticulously researching the steps and music from the original manuscripts. With his energetic and charming personality and warm infectious sense of fun, Ricardo is able to get the whole room up and dancing and enjoying themselves.

" With everybody being dressed up and in good spirits we were all set for a good party but as soon as you're music began to play we were immediately transported back in time and I enjoyed the party of a lifetime. The music was superb, the dancing was a great laugh and having you all interacting and mingling amongst us was the icing on the cake. I felt like royalty at my own medieval banquet. I am still smiling now. Thank you"

Everybody has commented on how excellent you were, comments included:

"The best party I have ever been to" Kristian Hewwitt

"The band were amazing, how much were they? I want them for my party"

"I woke up the nest morning chanting; 'Large, Large - Tiny, tiny' and wanted to be back there"“

“Participating in the Tudor Ceilidh was a revelation. Ricardo’s wit, charm and warmth allayed all nervousness in the group, and it was deeply soul-nourishing to experience first hand the movements with the music in such a supportive and fun atmosphere.”
Elizabeth Jane Baldry, Concert Harpist and Film Maker

“When the bagpipes and drums started up I really wanted to dance to your music but didn't know how. It was brilliant fun to join in with Ricardo and learn the real steps.

When Ricardo dances it makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck,he looks like he's stepped straight out of a 16th century Spanish Court.
