• African Roots Night

Wow what a beautiful few days Katy, Jonathan and Steve have spent with the wonderful and inspiring Chartwell Dutiro, African visionary musician and Mbira maestro. www.chartwelldutiro.com

On Monday we were very honoured to have spent a delightful couple of hours guesting on his fabulous radio show African Diaspora which goes out every Monday night 8pm - 10pm www.soundartradio.org.uk

On Friday night we were very lucky indeed to be invited to play at the 2nd Roots Music Night at the Mbira Academy, Studio 20, Dartington mbira-academy.org.uk. It was a really magical night which included The Mbira Gang, solo performances by Chartwell, Libby and the really cool Kora playing of Jally Kebba Susso from Senegal. It was a joy to play our medieval instruments and music alongside the medieval music of Africa!

We are really thrilled to be part of this project which recognises the importance of our diverse and unique cultures, the humanity we hold in common which is expressed through the sharing of music, and the honouring of our ancient ancestors who have so much to teach us for our world today if we learn how to listen.
