  • Fantastic Concert in Cyprus

Just as we were all reeling with shock and grief after losing Mike we had a lovely invitation to perform with the full Daughters of Elvin lineup in Cyprus. It was only six weeks after Mike died and we were all very numb. It was a wonderful chance to spend some time together in a beautiful place. The venue was a ruined 16th century monastery. We played outside under a starry warm mediterranean sky. We were given the most amazing welcome and hospitality - the people of Cyprus are wonderful (and so is the food!!). We decided to stay for a few extra days and lie on the beach and swim in the sea. It was a very timely trip indeed and we will be forever grateful for the chance to begin our healing journey together in this way.

  • Loss of A Beautiful Friend

24th April 2011 written by Katy

It is nearly a year since we added any news to this page. In many ways I was personally very glad to have said goodbye to 2010 as it was a very turbulent year for me and for Daughters of Elvin. Many unwanted things happened to us that I won't put up here but the worst thing of all was the sudden death of our beautiful viol player Mike Edwards in September in a horrible freak accident. He was loved by many, many people and is very sadly missed by us and me personally. He was a wonderful musician and a truely wacky friend. He had a huge influence on the music scene in Totnes where he lived. He encouraged everybody musically and in their lives. I won't say much more as it still hurts to think about what the world has lost. To read an obituary of this lovely man and talented musician www.independent.co.uk
