facilitated by experienced professional musicians
Katy Marchant, Steve Tyler and Dr Ricardo Barros
Steve Tyler and Katy Marchant, two of the country’s finest players of early instruments, are joined by Dr Ricardo Barros, the country's leading authority on period dance. Together they will take you on a fascinating journey back to the time of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I illustrated with an exciting array of period instruments including hurdy gurdy, bagpipes, gothic harp, citole, cittern, pipe and tabor and percussion. With demonstrations of authentic dances from the 16th century and beautiful costumes of the time, these inspiring workshops will combine music, dance and history bringing it alive in an interesting and entertaining way.
"I just wanted to say a really big thank you for your visit last week.
The children really enjoyed it and was so lovely to be able to see the instruments, costumes and to take part in the dances.
They were telling their teacher all about it at lunchtime so I think we will be having another go this week, but without your expertise!!! They loved having a go on the Hurdy Gurdy and bagpipes.
It has given them a really good start to their Tudor topic and a taste of the times in all sorts of ways.
It was a fabulous morning. Thank you once again."
